Website downtime scheduled
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 6:47AM Please note the website is scheduled to be offline for maintenance and upgrades from Saturday, December 12, 2009 starting at 6 p.m. until Monday, December 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. Avoid planning any website activities during this time period, because the website may or may not be accessible, or it may be accessible intermittently. Thereafter, the website will be stocked full with new features, as if having been visited by the very Santa Claus of websites, who, by the way, lives in Silicon Valley.

Unseen changes
Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 4:00AM News from behind the scenes: The website has been moved to a setup that does what it does in a much faster way. How's that for being non-technical?Everything should work faster. Faster is better. Not always, but in this case, yeah.
Dress up your profile page
Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 8:49AM A few new things for Beyond MySpace: folks can now wallpaper their home pages with any image out there on the Internet. This one goes out to Alex. How to do this? Easy. There is a new option on everyone's Edit Profile page. Type or paste the address in the textbox labeled Background Image URL. And I cleaned up the way homepage options are summarized on that edit profile page. Should be even easier to use now. Hmm ... oh also ... I updated the gallery page so that it's easier to sequence the photos. Just add and delete photos to the gallery. The order that you add them is the order that they will appear.
Create your own photo gallery
Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 8:58AM Another amazing new feature on Beyond MySpace: Curate your own photo gallery! Yes, that's right. You take photos. You publish photos. You critique photos. Now you can organize and present photo sets based on any theme you want. First thing you want to do is go to your profile and set up your a name and description for your photo gallery. Then, after that, adding photos to your gallery is easy. Any time you are viewing anyone's photo in full size, you can click on the the link that says something like 'Add photo to my gallery' to add photos. One click and it is added to your gallery. You can remove photos from your gallery just as easily. Just go to your gallery, spot the photo you want to remove, and click on the remove link (it's a minus sign). Have fun!
Website maintenance
Friday, August 04, 2006 at 6:51AM Some minor acts of tidying up: Fixed some homepage settings problems for some of the newer members of Beyond MySpace (sorry about that Eden and Ursula!) ... and I went through the database and found every blog entry (only about six of them) that was purely a note for me to do something, and I changed them from blog entries into messages to me. They were created before we had the messaging feature. Now that we have the messaging feature, that's what they will be. It's like they've finally come home.
Website updates
Friday, August 04, 2006 at 6:34AM Update time. Some recent website improvements include: class homepages; delete your blog entry function; delete your photo entry function; preview photo comments feature; message everyone feature. Enjoy!
More website updates
Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 7:58AM OK, here's the latest, in one big long blog breath: You can now leave messages for other people. Just go to their homepage and leave a message. You can edit your blog entries. Just click on the edit link next to the blog entry you want to update. You can edit your photo information (the title and caption). Just click on the edit link next to your photo. The homepage layout has been updated to include photo titles for each photo displayed, and now there's a whole new section that shows your incoming messages. Also, your homepage now shows the five latest blog entries, photos, and messages by default, instead of showing everything. Somebody asked for this. You can view more than the latest five by clicking on the number link at the tops of your lists. This number is the total count of how many items you have in that list.
Website updates!
Monday, July 24, 2006 at 6:24AM A few updates. The home page browsing dropdown box has been moved to the top of the page. Seems to make more sense there, especially with class home pages on the way. Also, I fixed a little bug with the photo uploading tool to prevent people from uploading new pictures over existing pictures with the same filename.
Comment all you want
Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 7:53AM The big update this week is students can now comment on photos! Here's how: While logged in to the website, just click on someone's photo to view that photo full size. Under the photo, is a place to assign a smiley and make a comment. Have fun with this!
Website updates
Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 6:28AM A few scattered updates, some virtually unnoticable to the naked eye: You can now update your username, password, and e-mail address ... Added more color options for fonts and page backgrounds ... Set up a formal stylesheet ... Added a few new icons ... A new procedure has been defined for setting up new students ... Added an easter egg showing a person's website statistics ... Worked on the behind-the-scenes structure to organize sessions, classes, enrollment, and attendance ... Worked on, but did not completely resolve, some logic issues on the entry page.
Website updates
Friday, July 14, 2006 at 7:48AM Something else I added to the website yesterday: a function that lets you upload a personal photo. Access this tool via the 'Edit Profile' link. Your personal photo appears above your name on your home page.
New features
Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 6:56AM The following features were added this morning to the Beyond MySpace main page: A mini gallery showing the most recent student photo submissions ... Links to full-size versions of those photos on a photo view page that also has links to the photographer's home page ... A quote from the most recent student blog entry ... Link in to that student's home page. These updates make it easy for parents and friends to enter the site and see student work, without having to log in.
