  • So on the intern front this week I learned how to open a gallery and make a sale at the G2 internship. This will surely come in handy when I move to alaska later this year since the only after-school type job around there is the PX which is the military's version of wal-mart. Also I'm happy to report that I hung a wall for the student exhibit! I'm usually pretty bad at cutting/hanging/measuring etc. basically anything but taking the actual picture. But thanks to Deanna I have now overcome that particular obstacle. Although it came at a price, that of hitting my finger with a hammer, getting a gnarly cut from 62 inches of measuring tape sliding through my hand, and hitting my knuckles with the metal end of the measuring tape. But all's well that ends well. The tragic-ness of it all is that I didn't get to even come to the exhibit due to STAR testing with my fellow online school goers. I also started teaching a class with Cathy the film lead at Virginia Ave Park. After our class (which consisted mostly of kids forced to be there...) we got locked out of the Venice Arts van due to some problem with the alarm. So basically we spent about 20 minutes trying to get in while tripping the alarm repeatedly until getting picked up and abandoning the poor van. I'm very attached to the van actually. It reminds me of the good ole days of my first session here when we were doing a project on the Venice Pier and we went there EVERY Saturday. I remember there was an old bottle of nesquik milk in there for a long time and finally towards the end of the session someone decided it would be a great idea to open it and smell it. The smell was not pleasant.
